McCarthy, Dennis

01/06/05
Winter Haven, FL

Dennis McCarthy, 80, died of leukemia in Winter Haven, FL. Born in Chicago, he was ordained an Oblate of Mary Immaculate in 1955. Parish missions and pastoral care were his ministry focus. Always deeply interested in theological questions, he discovered his true spiritual home in the Lutheran faith in 1975. He became a Lutheran pastor and applied his Masters in Social Work towards ministry in a Lutheran social service agency.

All his life he was fascinated by fire, so it was not surprishing the he was a chaplain to fire fighters, their families, and the survivors of fire during his entire minsterial life. Dennis was gentle, kind, caring person and together with Maza Deaner, his wife of 30 years, created a home of hospitality to welcome all.

MAY HE REST IN PEACE
