McGill, Joseph

Joe, 73, grew up in an Italian neighborhood, learned the language and was ordained a priest in 1956. A fabulous Latinist, he also learned Spainsh in his pastoral work. After 20 years of pastoral ministry he became sick and took a leave of absence. The diocese never called him back but instead suspended him, though they did not take him off the books until 2002. Joe then did advertsing work for a living. He was very bright, and excellent listener and able to gather diverse folks together. Twenty brother priests---ten single, ten married--honored him in his resurrection to life eternal.
