Patrick McManus, 69, died July 29, 2007.  After studying theology in Rome, Pat was ordained for the Diocese of Duluth, NM in 1963.  He married Nanci in 1968 and they had three children.  Pat spent most of the rest of his life working in the prison system.  As a prison official in Minnesota, as leader of Kansas' prison system from 1979 to 1983, or as a special court master appointed by the federal government.  Pat stood firm on principle by was sensitive to inmates and officials.  He became a world-renowned criminal consultant for nearly all 50 states.  He worked tirelessly for human rights in the American prison system.

Pat was kind, generous, compassionate, empathetic, a good listener.  Paired with his brilliance and deep desire to help others, these characteristics marked him as a great leader.  His family, his brother priests, and especially those in the prison community will dearly miss Pat.
