Lou (63) was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Newark in 1956. He completed graduate studies in foreign languages, served as a priest in Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst, and volunteered for five years of ministry in Honduras and Chile. This experience with the poor shaped his life, molded his priesthood and set him on fire with the ugency of social justice.
Lou's ministry and life took on added meaning with his marriage to Irene King, his parenting of five children and long years of teaching South Brunswick High School.
Lou served God's People in other ways. He was a leader of community for "Bread and Justice" which gathers weekly for eucharist and in soup kitchens and with the homeless in New Jersey. He was a gentle and irreplaceable presence in another creative community called Keryx, which brings together married priests and their families monthly for prayer, Eucharist and reflection. Keryx has been doing this for 12 years.
Lou, with Irene, was an associate member of a religous community of women, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace and from this vantage point labored for gender equity in Church and society
