Mohr, Maurice (1930 - 1988)
Ordained as a Jesuit in l960, "Mose" Mohr spent his Jesuit years teaching English and studying for teaching credentials. In l972 he married Ellen Kelly who had been a Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. They moved to Virginia, bought a farm, and Mose spent most of his life working for the State of Virginia as an advocate for people in trouble. He became a beloved figure in the 12-step movement of Alcoholics Anonymous, and has an AA social center named after him. He died of brain cancer in l988, full of faith and surrounded by family and friends.
