Scerbo, John

New York City, March 26, 2001

Father Scerbo, who died on March 26, 2001 in the De Witt Nursing’ Center, New York City, was a graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, and Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Paterson in 1960.

During his service to the diocese, he served as assistant pastor in Our Lady of Mercy, Whippany, Immaculate Conception, Franklin, St. Monica’s, Sussex, St. Jude’s, Budd Lake, Our Lady of the Lake, Sparta, and Our Lady of Good Counsel, Pompton Plains. He retired from active ministry in 1973.

Father Scerbo then became an assistant buyer in the silver department at Cartier’s in New York City and an office manager for Bondanza Jewelers and Work’s Gallery, both in New York City.

Born in Boonton, New Jersey  he lived in New York City since 1973.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Michaelina Scerbo; brothers, Alfonse W. and Frank J., and a sister, Mrs. Louise Carter.
