Sorohan, Patrick

April 10, 1994, Astabula, Ohio

Pat was ordained for the Diocese of Columbus in 1956.  He served as vice chancellor, vicar general and chancellor.  Pat and Martha were married in 1975.  Pat is survived by the couple's four daughters, Meaghan, Molly, Katie and Melissa.  After his marriage Pat served as executive director of the Catholic Service League of Astabula.

"Pat was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago," Bill Wisniewski, Regional Coordinator,  reported.  "In the beginning of April this year Pat was dying.  On the Wednesday of Holy Week my wife Pattie and I went to be with Pat.  He asked me to anoint him.  We prayed together, we hugged, cried and rejoiced.  After I annointed Pat I removed my stole and placed it on Pat's shoulders and asked him to bless us.  With tears in his eyes and Jesus in his heart, Pat blessed us, blessed his family, blessed priesthood and blessed the Church."

Many members of the CORPUS  family were with the Sorohan family when Pat died.  His mass of Christian Burial April 13 was a celebration of the life, priesthood, marriage, fatherhood and Irish heritatge of Patrick Sorohan.  Bishop James Malone of the Youngstown Diocese presided.
