Peter Edward Tintes was born on February 29, 1936 in Forest Prairie Township near Eden Valley to Tom and Edna (Martin) Tintes. He graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1954 and entered in the fall Nazareth Hall in St. Paul, to begin study for the priesthood. From there he went to St. Paul Seminary and was ordained February 2, 1963. He served parishes in Bird Island, Willmar, and Raymond, and while at Raymond was instrumental in developing an interdenominational Religion in Life Center on the college campus in Willmar now called Ridgewater. He began teaching courses at that college in 1968 and with the accompanying degrees taught Philosophy, Sociology, and Psychology with the last part of his career directing the program training chemical dependency counselors. Pete married Bernice Grabber on April 11, 1988 and lived on the farm near Belgrade. Pete was interested in everything and stood firmly for what he believed.

His love of his history kept him busy with genealogy. He was co-chair of the board of directors for the Historical Association DFL Precinct Chair for Colfax Township, Kandiyohi County. He began the Wellstone Action Civic Dialogue in Kandiyohi County and took an active role in politics for the grass roots area, believing in working for the common good for all,

He kept his farming practices organic, so that future generations can have healthy soil and good drinking water. He believed we did not own the land but were stewards of the soil. Pete was an avid reader and loved the book club of the college. Birds, animals, flowers all were treated gently and with respect by him.
