Jon Bourg

August 1, 1935 - January 16, 2016
A native to San Antonio, Jon was a committed servant of Our Lord. Jon was an active priest with the Oblates O.M.I. from 1963 to 1979. He contributed greatly during these years in communities including McAllen, Mission, Brownsville, Houston and San Antonio, Texas. After leaving the priesthood, Jon married his wife of 34 years, Julie. Jon's passion for helping others never ceased. Jon continued serving in numerous ways by participating in MANY ministries and roles at St. Brigid Parish. Organizations touched by his generosity included Meals on Wheels, Dignity S.A., CORPUS S.A., and Posada Guadalupe. He diligently worked with and supported Habitat for Humanity San Antonio. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Kaine Bourg and Edward Bourg. He is survived by his wife, Julie Trust Bourg; brother, Ed Bourg (Esther); daughter, Rochelle Heidbreder (Jason); son, Sean (Audrey) and his favorite people, his grandchildren, Denise, Kylee and Patrick. A Rosary and Mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Saturday, January 30 at 9:30am to celebrate Jon's life. In lieu of flowers, please continue his work with a contribution to Habitat for Humanity San Antonio (www.habitatsa.org).
The world is a better place because Jon was in it.
