ZINNREST IN PEACE
George Edward Zins

George Edward Zins was born on August 26, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to his parents Matthew Christopher Zins and Elizabeth Ann Lierman. His brothers and sister are: Betty Ann (Zins) Reiber, Norman Paul Zins, and John William Zins. George attended St. Gregory Minor Seminary and Mount St. Mary Major Seminary. He was ordained a priest for the Oklahoma City and Tulsa Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in 1967 by Bishop Victor J. Reed. He served as the associate pastor at Holy Name Church in Chickasha, OK, and as the associate pastor at St. Thomas More parish in Norman, OK. He served as pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Sulphur, OK with missions in Tishomingo and Madill, OK.

He was very active pastorally in Youth Work. In 1973 he resigned from Pastoral Ministry and later married Mary Minden. They have five children: Andrew Garcia Zins, Sr., Chris Zins, Rodney Andrew Zins (deceased), Carmel Ann Zins, and James (Hines). There are four grandchildren: Andrew Garcia Zins, Jr., Nicole Renee Zins, Anthony Michael Zins, and Christopher Rodney Zins. There are three great grandchildren: Ezekiel Michael Aranda, Zayden Anthony Zins, and Mila Rose Zins. George E. Zins passed away on September 4, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was an active member of “Fratres In Unum”, a group of inactive priests. Many people loved and will miss George who was always very supportive of others.
