Joseph "Joe" Boucher, Jr. died Saturday, November 2, 2002 in Edmond, OK. He was born December 19, 1920, in Hydro, OK, to Oklahoma pioneers, Wallace Joseph and Miriam L Withers Boucher. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Business in 1943 with a major in accounting. Joe was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, Phi Eta Sigma scholastic fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi business students fraternity and Scabbard and Blade military organization. He received his US Army commission at the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill and served in WWII in the Italian Campaign as a forward observer with the 91st Infantry Division, 346th Field Artillery Battalion and attained the rank of Captain. His devotion and dedication to the Catholic Church in Oklahoma was a lifelong commitment. He served in various capacities for over thirty years retiring from the Catholic Foundation office of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City in 1985.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 20 years, Margaret Kanaly O'Meara Boucher; stepson, Jack J. O'Meara and great granddaughter, Shannon Margaret Scott. Survivors include five daughters and their spouses, Patricia and Clarence Schmidt, Caldwell, KS; Kathleen and Fred Marks, Oklahoma City; Maggie and Tom Miller, Edmond; Rita and Dale Mullins, Guthrie; Michelle and Jay Ross, Tulsa; 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and cousin, Betty Withers of St. Louis, MO. A wake service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, November 4, 2002, at the Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 N. May with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 5, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Margaret (Keta) Gaither, Heartland Hospice, and Grace Living Center in Edmond.
