REST IN PEACE

Thomas McNamara, a long -time CORPUS member, died on November 20, 2016 in Houston, TX. He was 91. Tom grew up in the Chicago area and
joined the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1939 as a high school student at their minor seminary in San Antonio, TX. He was ordained in 1951 and for many years he was stationed in Northwest Canada at various Oblate missions. In 1968 he joined the Army Chaplaincy program. As a chaplain, he was stationed in Vietnam, Okinawa, Philippines and in several locations in the United States. Tom left the priesthood in 1975 and married Jean the love of his life. Jean had been a religious with Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters. They had two sons, Joe who now lives Bethesda, MD and Ray who lives in Denver CO, and have one grandson Ethan and are expecting a granddaughter in January.

Tom and Jean were members of CORPUS San Antonio group up until the trip from Houston became too difficult for him. Tom always kept himself abreast of the latest theological thought through his constant readings and lectures. The couple loved to attend CORPUS National Conferences. At these meetings Tom enjoyed being provocateur and challenging speakers and attendants with probing questions. He was a life time learner. Tom was also an avid gardener and spent long hours tending to the landscape and plants in his backyard.  May he have eternal peace with the Lord.
