After a lengthy illness, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2002 in Sacramento. Born December 25, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio, he is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Barbara, loving step-children Deniece (Rick) Ferger (PA), Debbie (Ed) Sequeira, Angelina (Jeff) Meyers, John Haydis, Rebecca Blakeman, Barbara (Jeff) LaLonde, Elizabeth (Michael) Hyatt (CT), and Cathy (Eamonn) Ingram-Kelly, and loving brother of BarbaraCoty, and Carol Teal. Preceded in death by his parents Martin and Eva Lehmann, Toledo, Ohio and sister Merle Pickel, Washington State. He will be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and his church family. He attended St. Joseph's in Los Altos and St. Patrick's in Menlo Park seminaries and was ordained for the Diocese of Sacramento in 1956 and served in parish's at Immaculate Conception in Sacramento, St. Joseph's in Lincoln, St. Joseph's in Sacramento, and Holy Spirit in Fairfield until 1975, and continued in the Diocese serving the migrant farmers camps in Dixon, Winters, Vacaville and Vallejo for six years. He worked for Curbstone and Stanford Settlement in the 1970's and became a social worker (LCSW) with Catholic Social Service since 1981 until retirement.
He was a volunteer at the Shriner's Burn Center until his death and was a member of the Knight's of Columbus #953, Social Club, RCIA, and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Parish. He also enjoyed building his 1934 Ford Pickup, teaching Spanish, gardening, volunteering, and loved his timeshares.
