Dr. Homer R. Jolley, native of Morgan City, La., died October 11 2001 at his residence at the age of 85. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tuscaloosa at 12:00 Noon, Monday, October 15, 2001. Visitation will be at the church at 11:00 A.M. Graveside services will be in Morgan City, Louisiana at 3:00 p.m. on October 18. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Dr. Jolley was past President of Loyola University in New Orleans and a long time Professor of chemistry, Jolley received his Ph.D. from Princeton University following undergraduate studies at Springhill College, Gonzaga and Fordham Universities. He did post-doctoral research in Nottingham, England as a Fulbright Fellow. Subsequent to leaving Loyola in 1970 he worked in government in Washington, D.C. and later at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was a former Jesuit Priest.


He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary Allen Jolley; one sister, Dr. Margaret Jolley of Thibodaux, Louisiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Holley Delahaye, Hannah Jolley Comerford and Barbara Jolley Joy and parents Frances Shannon and Homer L. Jolley of two pioneer Morgan City families.

Homer was a CORPUS member and ordained 1945 for the Jesuits.  He transitioned in 1972 and married Mary Allen.
