REST IN PEACE

James H. "Jim" McCarthy, 78 of Medford, died September 4, 2012 after a long illness in the Spaulding Hospital, Cambridge , MA.

Born in Boston, he lived in Medford for the past 2 years and formerly of Somerville. He was the son of the late Mary (Hurley) and William McCarthy. Jim retired in 2000 from MIT as a Human Resource Representatives for the School of Engineering after 22 years. James was ordained as a Jesuit Priest from 1964-1975 and taught for many years during this time in Baghdad. He was an active member of the Paulist Center Community for many years.

Beloved husband of Judith (Mercurio) McCarthy. Devoted father of Claire McCarthy of Dorchester, William McCarthy and his wife Michelle of CA. Loving grandfather of Simon McCarthy. Brother of Edward McCarthy of FL, Mary Bivins of TX and Ann Alling of NC.

A funeral mass was celebrated in the Paulist Center, 5 Park St., Boston, Saturday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Friday evening 4-8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in James’ name to the Paulist Center, 5 Park St., Boston, MA 02108 or Project Bread, 145 Border St., East Boston, MA 02128.

Jim was a long time member of CORPUS.
