JOHN RUSNAK, PH.D.

John Rusnak, PH.D., a quintessential teacher and seeker of knowledge, passed away on July 23, 2015. John was born in Roebling, New Jersey, a proud Slovak American and the youngest son of Anna and Michael Rusnak. He was ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest in 1962 and spent seven years as a missionary in Costa Rica. After he left the priesthood, a Ph.D. program at ASU brought him to Arizona. He became a full time clinician, consultant and instructor in state Community Colleges, ASU and at the University of Phoenix until his retirement in 2000. He then spent his time volunteering with various organizations and joined the docent program at the Phoenix Art Museum where he was honored to receive his 10-Year Pin as a Senior Docent. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially the grandchildren who he loved to take to the movies, museums and ballgames (Diamondbacks, ASU and the Cardinals). John is survived by his wife Pepper, sons Keith McLaine (Shannan), Christopher McLaine and his daughters Heather Kruger (Hannibal) and Jenny Street (T.J.); grandchildren - Sean McLaine, Connor McLaine, Teddy, Emily, William, Erich, Matthew John and Chelsea Kruger and Owen, Molly and Eden Street. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
