James P. Dooley Entered this life on Nov. 17, 1922 and slept into re-birth on June 3, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Gibson; brother, Father Paul (Mary) Dooley; and sister, Alice Dooley. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Father Francis Dooley and Father Joseph Dooley. Jim was a graduate of Cathedral grade school and St. Meinrad School of Theology. He was ordained priest in 1947. He received a PhD in Psychology from the University of Ottawa. Father Dooley served at Sacred Heart Parish in Terre Haute, St. Anthony's in Madison and St. Mary's in Rushville. He taught at Schulte High School in Terre Haute, Shawe High School in Madison and the Latin School in Indianapolis. Doctor Dooley was employed as a psychologist in the drug addictions unit at the V.A. Hospital in Indianapolis for 20 years. Recently Jim has been a member of and actively involved with St. Bridget's Catholic Church. During this time the parishioners were locked out of their church building and eventually saw it bulldozed to a heap of rubble. Through their experience they came to a deep understanding that as Vatican II proclaimed, "Church is the People of God." Because of his leadership the parish named him Pastor Emeritus. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Paul Dooley and Father Adolph Dwenger with the people of St. Bridget's Church at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church, 720 Dr. Martin Luther King at 12 p.m. June 12 with calling from 10 a.m. until services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Martin University in co Father Boniface Hardin, Martin University, 2171 Avondale Pl., Indianapolis, IN 46218.
