Hermes Donald Kreilkamp, 93, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at George Ade Memorial Healthcare, Brook, Indiana.
He was born April 8, 1923, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Christian Kreilkamp and Emma Blum.
Hermes was married to Mary Ellen Cebulski and she survives.
He is a graduate of the Pontifical Oriental Institute of Rome and Catholic University of America, has served as a professor at seminaries and colleges in the United States, and was co-founder of the Institute of Philosophy in Marogoro, Tanzania, East Africa. His books include Origin of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Come, Lord Jesus and Jeshua, Son of Mary.
Dr. Kreilkamp is Professor Emeritus, St. Joseph College, Rensselaer, Indiana from 1966 until his retirement in 1993.
Surviving along with his wife is a daughter, Mary, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a son, Joseph of San Francisco, California, a son, Lynn of San Antonio, Texas, a daughter, Emmy (husband Scott Newman) of Olympia, Washington, eight grandchildren, Matthew, Caton, Natalie, Lauren, Nicole, Christian, Elliott, Ezra and one great grandson, Corey.
Friends may visit with the family at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. cst. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. cst at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. Father Timothy McFarland, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer, Indiana.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Hermes D. Kreilkamp Scholarship Fund at St. Joseph College, P.O. Box 870, Rensselaer, IN 47978.
