REST IN PEACE

Gabriel DesHarnais, 80, a native of Detroit, Michigan, 18-year resident of Cedar Grove, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, August 16 at Brookshire Nursing Center. "Gabe", son of Armand and Therese DesHarnais, is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his two sons Denis and Armand, his daughter-in-law Kim, and his two granddaughters Hannah and Siriana. He is also survived by his sister Gisele, his brothers John and Gerald, and his twin-brother Gaston. He was known as Uncle Gub to his sixteen nephews and nieces, and is, in addition, survived by his brother-in-law Jack, his sisters-in-law Therese, Gail and Susan, and his double-cousin, Henry, and Henry's wife Susan. Gabriel was a doctor of marital and family therapy, an Episcopalian minister, a teacher of Latin, and a part-time chaplain at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, some of the many ways he strove to be of service to his community. He was a man of strong beliefs, and an abiding love of humanity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alamance-Orange Prison Ministry, where Gabe volunteered. Gabriel A. DesHarnais will be remembered in a service at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Hillsborough on Saturday August 23rd, at 3pm.
