William J. Kennedy, 68, of North Plainfield, died on Sunday; March 14, 2010 at home. He was born in Newark and lived there for twenty seven years. After living in Newark, Bill lived in North Arlington. He also lived in Toms River for seven years before moving to North Plainfield twenty five years ago.

Bill was a graduate of Seton Hall University and Darlington Seminary, where he earned a Masters degree in Pastoral Training and Theological Counseling. He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark in 1968. Bill was a member and communicant of St. Luke's Church in North Plainfield, where he sang in the choir, was a reader and was active for several years in children's grief counseling and Rainbows. Bill was a graduate of McAllister School of Mortuary Science and became a Funeral Director in 1977. He worked for the Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen for twenty five years, inactive the past three years. He also was a member of the PTA.

Bill was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Doran in 1981. Surviving is his wife, Nancy Pierro Kennedy, a daughter, Christina M. Kennedy, a son, Michael V. Kennedy, both of North Plainfield and a sister, Mary Theresa Steinberg of Midland Park.

Visiting will be on Tuesday; March 16, 2010 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM on Wednesday; March 17, 2010 at St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
