REST IN PEACE

Dr. John A. "Jack" Daley(1934 - 2018)
DALEY, DR. JOHN, A. "JACK"
Died peacefully on April 12, 2018 at his home in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was a father, friend, counselor, brother, uncle and priest. He was the beloved husband of Mary Chapman Daley for 40 years. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island to the late John and Mary (Cronin) Daley. He is survived by his two sons Matthew and his wife Bridget, and Luke and his partner Amanda, and their children Michael and Malachi. He was the brother of the late Richard Daley and leaves behind his siblings Tom Daley, Doris Allin, and Maureen McGovern of Coventry, and a large close Rhode Island Irish family. Growing up in a strong Catholic family he learned core values founded in his faith. In 1956 he joined Our Lady of Providence Seminary and began studying to become a priest. In 1959 he was chosen to study in Louvain, Belgium, and he was ordained a priest on June 29, 1963. He served in several parishes in Rhode Island and also taught at LaSalle Academy. In an effort to improve his counseling skills, he took a leave of absence from the priesthood and relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where he graduated from the University of Arizona with a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology. He developed a strong counseling practice and continued until November 24, 2017. He also consulted with medical groups around the country for 25 years. He was loved and respected by the many people he worked with. He was a wise and loving man who strived to make the world a better, more loving place. In Jack's honor, please perform three loving acts of kindness each day. Until we meet again, may God hold him in the palm of His hand. A Mass celebrating his life will be held June 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, Narragansett, RI.
