TROY, Donald Joseph Age 84, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on June 1, 2021, in Waldport, OR. Don grew up in Dorchester, one of 6 sons of John E. Troy, Jr. and Josephine F. Troy (formerly Kelly). His brothers are Richard (Maryann), Gerald (Garcia), Paul (Carol), and Philip (Hope) and Jackie who is deceased. He attended St. Gregory's School and won an academic scholarship to BC High, where he played football on the team that won the city championship. He was an honor student. He then attended St. John's Seminary in Brighton and also received a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Counseling from Boston University. Don was a diocesan priest in Boston for 12 years, where he served in several parishes. He was also a professor at Stonehill College. When Don left Boston, he moved to Huntington Beach, CA, where he met and married his beloved Sharron (Slater) Troy, who became his wife and lifetime companion. They had four children, Michael Troy, Kim Zevin, Connie Staley, and Duane Troy. They were further blessed with 6 grandchildren: Lauren and Troy Zevin, Sophia Troy, Gabriella and Logan Troy, and Glenn Staley. In California, Don became a practicing Psychologist and he and Sharron established a successful real estate company (Troy Realty) in Huntington Beach. When their children had grown they moved to PGA West, where they were very active in the golf world for 30 years. Later they moved to their beach home in Waldport, OR. Services will be private.
