Greenspun, William

Mobile, Alabama
Bill was born in West Haven, Ct in 1920. Ordained a Paulist in New York City by Cardinal Spellman at St. Paul the Apostle Church on May 1, 1958, he died in Mobile, Alabama in 2001. In 1970, he married Gloria Greenspun, a former sister who taught Latin and Greek in the Mobile parochial school System. Bill worked as a priest in Memphis, TN and was active in the Memphis Civil Rights movement for many years. He co-authored Living Room Dialogues following Vatican II. After laicization he worked for and retired from the Mobile Department of Social Services as an advocate for alternative sentences for delinquent youth. We Paulists and former Paulists celebrate the life and service of this truly wonderful married priest and friend.
